I´m just wrapping up my junior year, so perhaps the perspective of a student would help. I´ve just finished AP U.S. History, and may take Lit next year. One does work very hard in both courses; the benefits to Literature or another, separate, English course is that you really focus on your *writing*; in AP history, it is important to write well but no one comments on it or gives you tips; the main thing is that you included the relevant information. English courses focus on honing in your writing abilities.

Two AP courses might not be too much for your daughter, although they do both require lots of work, and if she is a "conscientious" student, that may mean that she feels like she needs to complete all bonus assignments in history, of which there are many. As the year progressed, I learned that I had to be selective of which bonuses I did so I could have time for other work. Just a thought...
