Dear Susan and Howard;
After 13 years of homeschooling I gave my school room a major overhaul. I have filled my front porch with piles of school books, resources, reading books, puzzles, games, etc. All grades and age groups. Some Saxon with the D.I.V.E. cds and advanced math text books too. All of it is in very good shape, Starting this Saturday- May 3rd after 1:00 pm ( not Sunday though) and for one week only- to May 10th the supplies will be on the front porch and available to those who need them.
We are not charging anything for the books.
Bring boxes and/or bags.
If anyone would have questions - looking for something particular- or need directions - they can email me at halfmoonhollow@gmail.com PLEASE email to set up a time to come so we know when to expect you.
I am hoping we can help some folks who may need them. At the end, I am hauling everything away.
Please pass this on to anyone you think may benefit.
I also have a set of white stoneware dishes and stainless flatware for 36 people.
We are going to place a can on the porch for donations. A donate what you CAN - can- ALL the donations will go to The Latrobe Food Pantry to help out with the absolutely staggering need of The Westmoreland County Food Bank. Currently they are
$30,000.00 behind with an estimated need of $300,000.00 by September. Stores used to donate
" almost out of date" food but they now sell it to second string stores. Donations have been cut severly. We must help the neediest of our communities.
( Currently 310 recipients) We volunteer at the distribution center- and we know the faces that belong to this need. Most of them are wonderful people- older folks, handicapped, and some folks who bag our groceries at Giant Eagle- but they just haven´t been given a fair shake in life. ( I recently noticed that Franklin Schools are having a "cereal Drive". Perhaps - Homeschool groups could do the same- like a "Soup" drive- or "Spaghetti sauce drive" -set the goal at 310 cans.)
So perhaps - one good turn- giving away our school books- will generate another good turn- helping the food bank. We´ll see what happens.
We ask for God´s Blessing.
Thanks for passing this along. We are planning a porch/yard sale later this spring for the same pupose.
Please email before you come.
Thankyou.
