If she has been expelled, the state is still obligated to provide her with a Free, Appropriate, Public Education. (Often abbreviated FAPE.) While homeschooling is one of your choices, you should also explore the options the school district is obliged to provide for you, such as homebound instruction, placement in another school, etc. Call the Pa Dept of Ed (see the left for contact info) to make sure your district is handling this properly. They cannot force you to homeschool by threatening to charge you with truancy if you donīt - they have to provide your daughter with FAPE. Expulsion seems like an odd way to deal with absences, assuming it was a public school. You may also want to explore the public cyber-charter schools.
