The conference will be Friday July 18 2008, 9 to 5, at the Hotel Carlisle, which is about 1/2 hour from Harrisburg, 2 hours from Philadelphia, 2 hours from Allentown and 3 hours from Pittsburgh.
Parents, evaluators, and high school students are all invited to attend. Here´s what some of our past attendees said:
- Shelly Wilson (homeschool mom): We learned a great amount about college requirements and really appreciate the class with PHEAA (Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency). I really feel prepared to start the college and financial aid process! Thanks for all your hard work!
- Nancy Lanigan (homeschool mom): We came looking for help and alternatives for our high school years. We already have 5 high school graduates (three more to go!) and are very sorry we did not attend before. All sessions attended were very helpful!
- Mary Hill (homeschooled student): I enjoyed the “Journeys in High School” session. I thought it was great that high schoolers could interact and share their experiences with each other.
- Cheryl Hanratty (homeschooled student): It really gave me an adea of all of the choices and possibilities I have to choose from and what to expect after high school.
- From Charis Luna (homeschooled student): I liked being able to discuss homeschool education in a group with other kids – and there was good food!
- From Kyle DeMaria (homeschooled student): I really enjoyed the layout of the day – there were nicely spaced breaks. Another thing was the nametags – they were easy to read and made it easier to socialize. Finally I made a new friend. In the past I have not met a lot of people my age who homeschool. The bottom line is I really enjoyed this experience and look forward to the next conference.
- From Megan Dutill (homeschooled student): I really had a wonderful time this year. I especially loved the opportunity to connect with students my age – the Excelsior panel, meeting students in my APUSH class, and the AP panel was lots of fun.
